I built this engine for a course that I took in the summer of 2009. It was a basic undergrad machine shop course and being a graduate student, I wasn’t really entitled to take it. But the instructor was kind enough to allow me to be a part of it. The whole idea of carving out a part from a solid piece of metal is so fascinating and empowering at the same time. This was probably one of the most enjoyable course I took in a long time.
